VR Animated Short "Cairo's Tale: The Big Egg" to Release in May

3 May 2018 – Shanghai, China – Cairo's Tale®: The Big Egg, a narrative virtual reality (VR) animated short, directed by Shi Yuan and produced by Ring Mountain, will have its world premiere in this May through major VR systems including Oculus Rift and HTC Vive (Steam).

In this eight-minute short, the viewer takes adventure with young talented mage Cairo and his best friend Clusterclucked, who both got surprised by a giant egg that fell off and broke the roof of Cairo's flying house. Though being afraid, they decide to figure out what happened.

The team at Ring Mountain studio has 15 artists and engineers with deep backgrounds in game and entertainment industries. While they used to work on titles like Gears of War, Blade & Soul, Gundam and One Piece at renowned companies, VR as a fresh frontier recently drew their interest and joined their creativity.

"I believe VR movies are one of the most critical elements of VR experience," says Shi Yuan, the director and studio CEO. "They perfectly integrate a pioneering technology with traditional image art, and will very likely change the landscape of entertainments in near future."

Cairo's Tale® is a game-cartoon franchise Shi Yuan has been designing and operating for years. After a 2D game trailer released in 2015 and a 10-episode TV cartoon series in 2016, this latest animated short was built from the ground up for VR using Unreal Engine 4.

A 360 video format of this film is also in production with release platform and schedule to be announced later by Arrowiz, online publisher of the title.
